Righteousness and Truth

This powerful message confronts us with a fundamental truth: the church must be built on righteousness and truth to be strong and healthy. We're reminded that righteousness isn't some unattainable mystical concept, but simply the quality of being right according to God's Word. Through Christ's sacrifice, we who were once unrighteous have been justified and made righteous. Romans 3:26 and 5:1 assure us that through faith in Jesus, God considers us righteous. But here's the challenge: Christ didn't die so we could continue in sin. Romans 6 makes this crystal clear - we who died to sin cannot live in it any longer. The message uses a compelling analogy comparing the church to a human body. Just as our physical bodies cannot function properly when injured, malnourished, or diseased, the body of Christ cannot thrive when something is wrong. Persecution can injure the church from outside, while strife, division, and false teaching act like cancer spreading from within. The remedy? A proper diet of God's Word, faithful teaching, and discipline when necessary. We're called to speak the same thing, to be perfectly joined together in the same mind and judgment as 1 Corinthians 1:10 instructs. The sobering warning from Isaiah 30 shows us what happens when God's people reject truth for smooth words and comfortable lies. We must choose: will we follow God's Word or human wisdom? Our strength as a church depends entirely on this choice.
